Today the DG chapter took a little adventure to Living History Farm in Urbandale. We rode their in our families so we had to take a family picture when we got there.
Then were were broken into groups based on our majors. I of course was in one of the cook pharmacy kid groups. We walked around the little town, took some pics, went on a horse-drawn carriage thing, roasted a marshmallow, got some pop and popcorn, went on a jack-o-latern walk, and then heard some stories. It was pretty fun. The event is mostly for small children-so we didn't get much candy or prizes, but it was still good to hang out with some DGs.
My other Halloween festivities for the weekend included:
Friday-going to an IV party where I dressed as a fork-in-the-road
Saturday-making a nerds costume (which i didn't wear), going to church, watching ISU win, hanging out on the couch while watching random tv shows, and doing my laundry!

Noodles and Company
On Friday Erin and I were VIPs at the new Noodles and Company in Des Moines. I had signed up on their email list earlier in the year to find out details about the store opening and when it would happen. Then early last week I got an invite for a meal there before the opening. I could bring 1 guest and Erin was in the room so I invited her. We got to each have a meal and drink for free, which was very nice.
I went with a nice bowl of their pesto pasta (I can't remember the actual name):
Erin had some mac and cheese with chicken.
We also each got a piece of flatbread.
They also have very nice signs for your number and cute little take-out boxes.
I'd never been to noodles before and I can say that I really liked it. The service was really good and the food was also really good. The restaurant also seems really nice since it's new.
After noodles we went to Menchies to get some froyo. We each bought 2 groupons for it so we used one of them. Menchies is not as good as Orange Leaf in Erin and my opinion, but this is not everyone in the house's opinion. We've had some heated arguments with Jenn and Laura about this fact. But we can all agree to disagree on the best froyo in Des Moines ;)

Poopy Peaches
**I'll explain the title towards the end of the post.***
On Saturday I woke up early to go watch Courtney and Amanda run in Race for a Cure in downtown Des Moines. This year I decided not to run, but said I would go with to watch and hold their stuff. We got there and Amanda picked up her packet then they stretched, got ready, and ran the race. They did a great job and ran the whole 5k! After the race we were walking back to the car and stepped on these peach colored berries. When we got to the car it smelled like dog poop. We aren't exactly sure if it was the peaches or if I stepped in dog poop, but either way it smelled awful. We then drove to Hy-Vee and ate breakfast there. I wasn't aware that Hy-Vee has breakfast, but they do and it was pretty good.
After eating I went back to DG and got ready for crush. The theme was hunt or be hunted. So I borrowed one of Isaac's friends hunting vest and bought a camo hat and went as a hunter. Nikki happened to have the same outfit-so that was very cute. Overall it was pretty fun.
After crush Nikki L, Nikki M, Erin and I all went to Buffalo Wild Wings and Orange Leaf and have a lovely time gettting stuffed with food. Overall it was a good day-but I didn't get any homework done!

Carving Pumpkins
Today Carina and I carved pumpkins. I think I've carved pumpkins with her on all of my fall breaks so we continued the tradition. We were also home alone on Monday and today so we did a little sucking up by carving our pumpkins to say I <3 mom and I <3 dad so that will be a wonderful surprise for them I'm sure when they come home :)

Iowa State Game
Today I went to the Iowa State game with Michelle and my mom. Even thought it wasn't a great outcome it was still fun to hang out with both of them. It was great to talk to Michelle on the car ride there and back as well as all the other chats we had throughout the day. It was good to see my mom as well. We also went to Isaac's frat after the game for soup. After that is when Michelle and I went to orange leaf for some more froyo because we hadn't eaten enough already. Here's some wonderful pictures of the day:

Frozen Yogurt
I've found a new obsession and it is self-serve frozen yogurt. It was the first or second week of school when Erin showed me Yo2Go in Urbandale. It was great-there were a few varieties of flavors and lots of toppings that you put on yourself. Then you weigh it and pay based on the weight. It was really good and we went at least once a week since that first time.
I then found out about another frozen yogurt place in Ames called Orange Leaf. My mom and I tried it out a couple of weeks ago. They have a ton more flavors-I tried red velvet and wedding cake. They were both really good and all the fruit toppings were really fresh. Also the building is really cool and very modern. I prefer it to yo2go.
On Friday night after the Fall Kill Exchange Nikki, Nikki, Sarah, Erin, Michelle, Jessica, and myself decided to try out a new to us frozen yogurt place in Ankeny called Lemon Tree. We took the van and headed there. I got peanut butter and cupcake flavors with some random chocolate toppings. It was also really good. I liked their variety of flavors. I do still think that orange leaf is my favorite so far.
Then today after the sad ISU game Michelle and I went to Orange Leaf today in Ames. As we were looking up the hours to see if they were still open after the game we discovered that there's one in West Des Moines that I'll definitely have to check out. Today I got a bunch of different flavors: peanut butter, white chocolate, red velvet, and wedding cake. I really liked the peanut butter-it tasted way more like peanut butter than lemon tree did. The wedding cake though I didn't like as much this time. It pretty much just tasted like frosting, which I was not really a fun of. Overall though the froyo was really good and I do think that it's my favorite place of froyo.
